Child Development Centers (CDCs) provide full- and part-day early care and education (ECE) services for children ages 6 weeks through preschool (or until the child enters kindergarten) in a center-based learning environment.

All centers are accredited or pursuing accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The Center also holds Department of Defense certification and participates in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program for breakfasts, lunches, and afternoon snacks.

The sponsor must provide proof of eligibility and employment. Military families seeking child care within Air Force District Washington can make a request online at MilitaryChildCare.com.The purpose of military child care is to support the mission of the DoD by serving DoD-affiliated families so that they may fulfill their military or DoD-related duties. In February 2020, the Office of the Secretary of Defense issued a memo to update the priority system and clarify when military families will receive priority access to child care, including supplanting lower-priority families with children in care. Read those changes here: DoD Priority Changes
